Lana joined the Maine Charter Commission in January 2022, where she serves as Executive Director. Before joining the Commission, Lana was the Chief Academic Officer at Excel Academy Charter Schools, a high-performing charter network in East Boston, Chelsea and Providence. Prior to joining Excel, Lana was the founding principal of UP Academy Dorchester, a turnaround charter school in Boston, where she continues to serve on the board. Before UP, Lana served as the Managing Director of The Achievement Network. Lana was an elementary school teacher at Edward Brooke Charter School, teaching 1st and 2nd grades. She began her career teaching 2nd and 3rd grades in NYC as a 2003 member of Teach for America. Lana holds degrees from Connecticut College and Fordham University.
