Katrina Conley
Lead Consultant
Katrina Conley is a dedicated leader with over a decade of supporting charter schools, with particular expertise in strategy, operations and organizational readiness for expansion. As the former Chief Operating Officer at Citizens of the World Los Angeles, Katrina orchestrated all operational facets, including compliance reporting, financial management, human resources, and technology functions, for a growing network of diverse-by-design charter schools. Katrina held a pivotal role on the Leadership Team at KIPP SoCal Public Schools, where she served as the Director of Operations, driving operational excellence for a network of 17 schools. Prior to KIPP SoCal, Katrina joined Green Dot Public Schools as a Strategic Planning Manager, contributing to the development and execution of a national expansion plan. She later became Director of Operations, overseeing operational services and talent management of non-instructional staff across 21 schools spanning three states. Katrina’s commitment to the nonprofit sector began as an Operations Fellow at Uncommon Schools, followed by her role as a founding Director of Operations for a KIPP NYC elementary school. Her background also includes private sector expertise in private equity and investment banking. Katrina holds a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce, an MBA from Harvard Business School and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from The Broad Center.
Amie Sugarman
Lead Consultant
Amie Sugarman is a senior leader with 15 years of experience working with charter and private school networks, nonprofits, and start-ups to transform education systems at scale. As Vice President of Programs Support at Higher Ground Education, a national Montessori school network, Amie restructured her team of 14 to a regional data-driven school support model that significantly improved instructional quality nationally. She then led a region of Higher Ground schools across four states to quadruple the number of campuses in her region that were profitable. As Vice President of Recruitment, Selection, and Pipelines at Alliance College-Ready Public Schools, Amie built Alliance’s first recruitment team to centralize and streamline the hiring of more than 300 staff annually across 28 schools. She also designed and launched two talent development programs at Alliance, and revamped and embedded Alliance’s college match approach. As Director of Uncommon Impact at Uncommon Schools, Amie developed and spearheaded a large-scale charter-district professional development partnership between Uncommon and the NYCDOE for 300 educators. Amie is a strategy consultant by training, having started her career at The Parthenon Group. She has a B.A. summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in Economics, an MBA from Yale University, and an M.Ed in Educational Leadership from The Broad Center.
